Soaring oil prices have Americans cringing at the pump and
journalists pointing the finger of blame at big oil companies.

But is big oil really to blame?

MRC's Business and Media Institute just published a new study
entitled "Crude Coverage," that identifies the true culprit
and faults the liberal media for missing the mark. Click here
to discover who is really to blame for the oil crisis and what
the U.S. can do to fight back:

http://www.mrcaction.org/r.asp?U=5748&RID=16005272

Given the skyrocketing gas prices and forecasts
of a $4.00 per gallon summer, this latest BMI report both
captivated and angered me. That the liberal media have all
but ignored OPEC's role--and have instead chosen to go after
the easy target of American oil companies is irresponsible
and misleading.

As a consumer, you need to know the truth. You need to know when
Hugo Chavez admits publicly that he wants to keep oil prices high
to damage the U.S. economy!

You should know why OPEC, an organization formed in part to secure
"fair and stable prices for petroleum producers," fails to follow
its own mandate. And where are the journalists telling the real
story to the American people?

That's why this "Crude Coverage" is such an exceptional
piece of work and one that I hope every member of our MRC Action
Team takes the time to read and pass on to friends and family.

Americans deserve the truth about the oil crisis and it can be
found right here. Click to access this exclusive, free report:

Blog EntryPARENTAL ALERT ! AN AFA ACTION ALERT ! Mar 13, '08 9:15 PM
for everyone

Homosexual Day of Silence - Is Your Child's School on the list?

Because of the action of concerned parents, hundreds of schools have removed their school as a listed participant in the pro-homosexual "Day of Silence." You can join the fight for your children too!

On, Friday, April 25, several thousand schools across the nation will be observing "Day of Silence (DOS)." DOS is a nationwide push to promote the homosexual lifestyle in public schools.

When AFA alerted parents of this public school classroom disruption by homosexual student activists, many took action immediately! If you haven't gotten involved, it's critical that you do so today!

A simple phone call or letter to school administrators, telling them your child will not attend school the day it observes DOS, may be enough to cause some participating schools to change their plans. Sample letter here.

Please listen to a 60-second radio ad warning parents about Day of Silence, then forward this email to your local Christian or conservative radio station. Ask them to broadcast it as a Public Service Announcement (PSA)! MP3 file or WAV file

Click here for Frequently Asked Questions about the Day of Silence.

In the past week alone, over 200 schools have announced they are dropping plans to participate. Please, get involved for the sake or your children, and all children, today!

Take Action!

What should parents do? Check with your local school principal to see if your child's school will be participating in DOS. If the school is participating, notify other parents about DOS and ask them to join in keeping their children out of school on that day.
Here is a partial list of schools which are expected to participate in DOS: If your school is listed, call your local school and ascertain whether they officially or passively allow students to observe "Day of Silence." If your school is listed, please double-check with your local school to see if the school is actually sponsoring DOS. Sometimes the "participation" turns out to be a handful of kids who are saying they have a homosexual club and are observing this protest day, but without school endorsement. We sincerely hope your school, if listed, is not actually an official sponsor. If it is not, we will take them off the list, if a school official asks us to do so. Please e-mail your correction to webmaster@missionamerica.com.

Some tips:
  1. Be sure of the date that DOS is planned for your school. (The national date is April 25, but some schools observe DOS on a different date.)
  2. Inform the school of your intention to keep your child home on that date and explain why. Click here for a sample letter.
  3. Explain to your children why you're taking a stand: Homosexual behavior is not an innate identity; it is a sinful, unnatural and destructive behavior. No school should advance a physically, emotionally, and spiritually destructive sexual lifestyle to students.
  4. Schools do not have to tolerate students remaining silent in class. Schools can adopt policies that require parental consent for students to attend any club, including those premised on sexual orientation or gender identity. Click here for more information from Attorney Mat Staver with Liberty Counsel who provides free information to parents, students, and schools regarding their rights associated with noncompliance on the Day of Silence.

MRC NEWS REPORT FOR MARCH 5, 2008
+ +
From the Desk of:
Douglas Mills
Executive Vice President

3/5/2008

Confirming MRC findings, a just released study by the Center
for Media and Public shows that liberal media bias in this
election cycle continues unabated.  According to the study,
as cited by Fox News Channel's Brit Hume, positive news
coverage of John McCain went into a negative freefall the
closer he drew to winning the GOP nomination.

While this may not be a surprise, the disparity of negative
coverage between the candidates is nothing short of shocking!

As reported by Hume, "McCain's media fortunes have taken a
dramatic turn for the worse since early January," tumbling 67
percent from a high of 97 percent positive to 30 percent.

Conversely, Barack Obama, despite a recent slip, is still
receiving twice the positive coverage as McCain (67 percent);
while Hillary Clinton stands at 57 percent.

Global Warming skeptics are getting the cold shoulder from
news organizations that have decided the global warming is
a fact and any dissenting arguments are to be squashed.

On those increasingly rare instances where opposing opinions
are expressed, they are almost always de-valued and undermined
with negative buzz words like "cynics" and "deniers."

In a new Special Report, "Global Warming Censored," the Business
& Media Institute analyzed 205 network news stories about "global
warming" or "climate change" between July 1, 2007, and Dec. 31, 2007.
They discovered that for every global warming skeptic appearing
on air, an average of 13 proponents (CBS led the way with a ratio
of 38 to 1) were mentioned or interviewed.

Just as amazing, only 20 percent of Global Warming stories ever
bothered to mention opposing arguments!

You've got to chuckle when news correspondents puff up and
pretend to be experts in a field they likely know little about.
Enter CNN correspondent Ali Velshi, who morphed into the role
of an economist when explaining how Treasury Secretary Henry
Paulson and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke’s appearance
before the Senate Banking Committee might go. "There are going
to be a lot of questions... They're going to be asked obviously
about where we are in this recession."

What recession, Ali?

Economics 101 teaches the official definition of recession
is two consecutive quarters of negative economic growth.
We haven't had that. Therefore, we are not in a recession.
But Ali and his liberal peers ignore or dismiss these important
items in favor of creating negative and fearful hyperbole. A
CNBC anchor ratcheted up that fear by adding "Worries about
losing your job... wild swings on Wall Street... It is impacting
people .. Fear begets fear."

Here's a responsible thought: stop peddling fear and focus on the truth.

For the complete businessandmedia.org report:

http://www.mrcaction.org/r.asp?u=2618&rid=14576094

While discussing the Potomac Primaries on Wednesday's Early
Show on CBS, Harry Smith, Republican CBS Political analyst
Nicolle Wallace said of John McCain’s conservative critics,
"The more that we see kind of the crazies like Ann Coulter
out attacking John McCain, the better Republicans feel about
their chances in the general election."

Before closing, she felt compelled to lump Rush Limbaugh,
Sean Hannity, Mark Levin and Laura Ingraham into the mix.

So after pronouncing conservatives dead on arrival last week,
the media are now labeling conservatives as "crazies" - and
are claiming that this will increase McCain’s chances come November?

As Mark Twain said, "News of my death is greatly exaggerated."

The liberal media are falling all over themselves speculating
a potential Democratic "Dream Ticket" of Hillary Clinton and
Barack Obama. ABC News was so taken by the idea, they actually
flew up a graphic while anchor Charles Gibson insisted that
the "Dream Ticket" idea has been "on many people's minds."

Really Charles, or is it just on the minds of liberal news
anchors desperate to create a buzz? A closer look suggests
the latter.

"Good Morning America" co-anchor Diane Sawyer, seemed to come
unhinged when discussing the idea with George Stephanopoulos.
After he admitted it was something he was thinking of "for most
of the year," Sawyer emphatically begged Stephanopoulos to
bet that the "Dream Ticket" would happen.

Is the Reagan ideology finished? Is the conservative movement gone?
Are Republicans finally embracing Democratic policy prescriptions
while Rush Limbaugh and other conservative mouthpieces wither away?

In Brent's latest column "McCain vs. Limbaugh", he spotlights the
liberal media's rush to pronounce Rush dead on January 19. That's
the day when John McCain won the South Carolina primary--setting
liberal corks-a-popping as they "celebrated" the changing times,
and how conservative voters had finally turned on Rush--signaling
his demise... Well, according to Brent, the liberal celebration
might be a bit premature.
